Job Type: Full-Time

Compensation: Competitive Salary – $75k range – life-stage, experience and expenses taken into consideration

Education: Master’s (or Equivalent) Preferred

Schedule: Sunday-Thursday (occasional evenings required)

The Journey is an established 20-year-old Baptist church plant in New York City (Manhattan), planted by a former North America Mission Board missionary, and currently meets in Times Square.  The Journey has baptized 4,000+ people during its first 24 years.

The Journey’s mission is to give the people of New York City the best opportunity to become fully developing followers of Jesus. The Journey has multiple in-person services each week as well as Church Online and we’re looking to expand our team with someone who shares our vision.  The Journey cooperates with the Baptist Convention of New York.

About the Role:
We’re looking for an “A” player to fill the role of Pastor of Families & Teaching Pastor at The Journey Church NYC.

This staff position would oversee our vibrant family ministry – working closely with parents and families (birth-5th grade) to invest in the spiritual development of our next generation.  An important part of this position is identifying and raising up new volunteers on our Journey Kidz Team and investing in and developing the current volunteers.

 

We are looking for an experienced, energetic leader who is ready to live in NYC, work hard, grow as a pastor and leader in this important role on our staff and make a tremendous difference for Jesus Christ in one of the most important cities in the world!

This role is ideal for someone with the gift of leadership, growing teams and communication – and who wants to develop as a minister and grow with the church. The position is available immediately.

Must be willing to relocate to Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens or nearby (within 30 min commute by public transportation).  Highly competitive salary.  Details and benefits will be discussed after resume and cover letter are received.

 

Key Responsibilies & Requirements:

 

Leadership, growth and innovation of The Journey’s children’s ministry – Birth through 5th-Grade and helping develop effective age-graded ministries for middle school and high school.

Leading the Sunday Journey Kidz experience on Sundays and planning and leading family events during the week (at least 2 a month).
Recruiting leaders and providing oversight for Growth Groups each semester (specifically related to family / parent oriented groups).
Being part of our teaching team and teaching 6-10 times a year.
Requires the ability to lead teams effectively, to raise up new leaders at a rapid rate and to communicate clearly.
Organizational and administrative skills are a must.
Must be extremely hard-working and bring a lot of energy and enthusiasm to the table.
Other desired characteristics include strong interpersonal skills; growing leader; team builder; sense of humor; risk-taker (seminary not required).
