About Renew Church: Renew Church – Baton Rouge was planted in thrrough the SEND Network of the North American Mission Board by Pastor Checkerz Williams and his wife Nicole. Renew was planted with an intentional focus on mutliethnic and mutli-generational diversity. Renew launched public worship gatherings on March 4, 2018 in the student building of Parkview BC. Three months after launch Renew Church relocated and held worship gatherings in the gymnasium of Florida Blvd Baptist Church from June 2018 until June of 2020. In November 2019, just 20 months into this new church plant journey, Renew Church “adopted” the Florida Blvd BC congregation and the FBBC property became the permanent home for Renew Church. Renew Church has 14 different nationalities and ranges in age from newborns to 80+ years of age. We are a Great Commission focused church that lives out the two Greatest Commandments: Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, sould, and strength; AND Love your neighbor as yourself. (Upward, Inward, Outward).

WORSHIP LEADER JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Objective: To provide leadership to the worship ministries of Renew Church, a multi-ethnic, multi-generational church.

Position Description: The worship leader will be the “producer” of each worship service and special programs.  Although the Lead Pastor is the “director” in terms of setting the theme and overall direction, the worship leader will oversee and coordinate all the details that a service encompasses. The worship leader must be a visionary who is creative in leading people to God. The worship leader is a leader who can communicate a direction in a way that inspires those around him/her to join in the pursuit of that vision.  This position requires the individual to serve not solely as a musical or worship arts director, but also as a discipleship leader to the people who serve in this ministry, and in the church as a whole.

Qualifications:

• A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a vital, growing personal relationship with Him.
• Commitment to moral purity.
• Commitment to the mission, Vision, and worship philosophy of Renew Church.
• Be willing to sign and live by the Active Membership Agreement for Renew Church.
• Demonstrated excellence as a worship leader.

Abilities:

• A shepherd as well as a musician.  This does not necessarily mean ordained.
• A heart for the spiritual formation of those in the congregation and the worship ministry.
• Relational skills and an enthusiastic presence for leading a multiethnic church in worship.
• Skilled in vocal, and instrumental direction.
• Skilled in organization, administration, and interpersonal relationships.
• Skilled in the use of technology in worship (ex. ProPresenter) and in the use of sound, lighting, computers, & Planning Center (or similar software).
• A self-starter
• A team player with a positive attitude.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain an authentic and growing walk with Jesus Christ through the ongoing spiritual disciplines of Bible reading, prayer, personal worship, fasting, confession, and fellowship.
• Spend time developing relationships with lost people so as to be personally effective in pursuing the Great Commission and helping the church to do the same.
• Build the necessary teams to carry out the worship areas of Renew Church.
• Plan the corporate worship gatherings of Renew Church in consultation with the Lead Pastor and do so with prayer, conceptual forethought, theological accuracy, and musical appropriateness.  Ensure that all the musical and technical aspects of the service advance the theme for the day.  Oversee song selection, media preparation and presentation, and coordination of all instrumentalists and vocalists.
• Direct all weekly activities and rehearsals necessary to facilitate the worship gatherings.
• Provide care for the worship teams, and the church family.
• Introduce our worship teams to worship training provided by other ministries, books, and conferences, etc.
• Oversee the worship ministry needs, organization, and volunteers.
• Set annual goals for the worship ministry that are in line with our vision and then evaluate how those goals were attained or modified during the year.
